Medium to tall, 3 – 4 ft., long-lived, dense sod-forming, rhizomatous, cool-season grass. Adapted to most soil textures, but requires sufficient moisture such as in wetland meadow sites. Very cold-tolerant, acid-tolerant and moderately salt-tolerant. Very good producer and palatable as it stays green into the late fall. Adapted to wet and dry meadows, from valley bottoms to elevation ranges in sub-alpine zone, on pond and lake shorelines and waterways. Minimum precip. is 20 – 25 inches. Plant fall or spring ¼ – ½ inches deep. 900,000 seeds/lb.

Named Release:Garrison’ (Cultivar) Released in 1963 by the NRCS PMC in Bismark, ND. Origin is from near Max, ND. Native to USSR. Adapted to cold temperature regions at mid to higher elevation with wet soils.
