Medium height, 2 – 6 ft. tall, long-lived, cool-season, mildly rhizomatous, sod-forming grass. Adapted in degrees to most soil textures. Good palatable forage producer. Recovers quickly after grazing. Used for pasture, hay production, rangeland and erosion control seedings where moisture is adequate. Minimum precip. is 15 inches. Plant fall or spring ¼ – ½ inch deep. 40,000 seeds/lb.

Named Releases: ‘Fleet’ (Cultivar) Released in 1987 from Canada. Very similar to Regar.

‘Paddock’ (Cultivar) Released from Canada and developed from a ecotype from Krasnodar USSR in 1969. Also similar to Regar.

‘Regar’ (Cultivar) Released in 1966 by the Aberdeen, ID PMC and ID AES. Selected from a collection made in Turkey. Germinates readily, seedling vigor is good. Greens up early and stays green late. Produces abundant good quality palatable forage.

‘Cache’ (PVP Cultivar) Released 2004 by the Utah AES and USU. Derived from selections of other meadow brome varieties. Intended for use on irrigated and semi-irrigated pastures in the Inter-mountain Region and Northern Great Plains.
