Medium height, short-lived, warm-season bunchgrass.  Adapted to all soil textures but does best on sandy loams.  Very tolerant of strongly alkaline and acidic soils.  Not cold-tolerant.  Fair palatability early, and moderately tolerant to grazing.  Useful in revegetation of disturbed sites with strong acidic or alkaline soils.  Minimum precip. is 12 – 14 inches.  Plant spring or summer ¼ – ½ inch deep.  Year old seed germinates best.  1,500,000 seeds/lb.

Named Releases: Ermelo’ (Cultivar) Taller, later maturity, more palatable and slightly less winter hardy.

‘Morpa’ (Cultivar) Newer variety released by the OK AES. Selected for better palatability and good forage yield.
