Small, 8 – 20 ft. tall, bushy, evergreen tree or shrub abundant in the southern Great Basin and Colorado Plateau Regions from 4,000 – 8,000 ft. elevation. Common on dry, often rocky slopes, flats, ridges and mesas. Important wildlife cover (thermal and security) and browsed some by deer in winter. Used for wildlife habitat, land restoration and native landscaping. Minimum precip. is 8 – 11 inches. Plant in fall ½ – ¾ inch deep. 5,000 seeds/lb.
