Perennial, 1 – 2 ft. tall. Blooms in early summer with blue-violet flowers. Adapted to Intermountain Region. Grows native from 7,000 to 10,500 ft. mainly on open slopes and meadows. Spreads by creeping rootstocks as well as by seed. Fair palatability. Useful as an ornamental and for revegetation of disturbed sites. Moderate water requirements. Likes full or partial sun. Plant in fall 1/8 – ¼ inch deep. 850,000 seeds/lb.
