Medium, 3 – 6 ft. tall, deciduous shrub found in the mountain-brush zone 4,000 – 8,500 ft. of the Intermountain area. Grows best on well-drained, medium-textured soils on foothills and mountain slopes. Fair tolerance to salt and alkali. Fair forage for browsing wildlife and fruits are readily eaten by birds and small mammals. Used for wildlife habitat improvement and disturbed site revegetation. Minimum precip. is 10 – 12 inches. Plant in fall ¼ – ½ inch deep. 28,000 seeds/lb.
