Medium, 3 – 6 ft. tall, deciduous, shrub found in the mountainous west usually at high elevations on deep, well-drained, fertile, moist soils on slopes and flats. Fair to good palatability for livestock and wildlife. Used for revegetation of adapted sites and for native landscaping. Minimum precip. is 18 inches. Plant in fall ¼ inch deep. 210,000 seeds/lb.
