Perennial, 3 – 7 ft. tall, somewhat stout, water-obligate, rhizomatous, wetland species, sometimes forming dense stands. Found throughout much of the western US on wetland sites such as around ponds, streams, lakes, sloughs, swamps, etc. at low to mid elevations. Often in standing water but can tolerate periods of dry conditions. Tolerant of alkaline, saline and brackish water. Grows on most soil textures. Very good cover and habitat for many wetland habitat species of wildlife. Plant spring or fall ¼ inch or less.190,000 seeds/lb.
