Achnatherum lettermanii

Letterman Needlegrass is very similar to Columbiana Needlegrass in appearance and adaptation, but differs with a shorter, narrower appearance, with very narrow, tightly enrolled leaves. The panicles are usually shorter and fewer flowered and the seeds slightly smaller. Does not usually grow at as low an elevation as Columbiana. Fair to good palatable forage while green. Valuable native grass for restoration of adapted sites. Grows on mountain parks and slopes from mid-mountain to sub-alpine. Minimum precip. is 14 – 18 inches. Plant fall or spring ¼ – ½ inch deep. 175,000 seeds/lb.
