Perennial, warm-season bunchgrass 2 – 3½ ft. tall. Common species in the desert grassland of southern Arizona and other areas of the southwestern US. Does best on medium to coarse textured soils from low to mid-elevations. Drought-tolerant and low-moisture requirements. Valuable forage for livestock and wildlife. Important species for restoration of adapted sites. Plant in spring ¼ inch deep or less. 3,375,000 seeds/lb.

Named Release: ‘Bonita’ (Selected Class) Release by the NRCS PMC in Tucson, AZ for use in SE Arizona and similar sites.
