Silky Lupine (Native)
Perennial, 1½ – 3 ft. tall, nitrogen fixing legume. Blooms in early summer with showy racmes of bluish flowers. Grows on most well-drained soils but prefers medium to coarse soil textures. Drought-tolerant and has low water requirements. Native in much of the western US and found in a variety of habitats from low to sub-alpine elevation. Utilized some by livestock but contains poisonous properties. Very valuable to some species of wildlife. Used for wildlife habitat improvement and for wildflower plantings. Fire tolerant. Valuable for disturbed land restoration. Plant in fall ½ inch deep. 24,5000 seeds/lb.
