Medium, 2 – 5 ft. tall, deciduous shrub found scattered in the southwest semi-arid areas of the US. Usually grows along rocky or sandy dry stream banks and gullies where infrequent runoff occurs. Fair palatability to browsing animals and important food and cover for birds and small mammals. Used for reclamation, native landscaping and wildlife habitat. Minimum precip is 6 – 9 inches. Plant in fall ½ – 1 inch deep. 4,500 seeds/lb.
