Perennial, 1 – 2 ft. tall. Blooms from June to August with bright orange/red bracts. Found on dry to moist rocky open slopes in mid to high elevations in CO, UT, ID, NV, OR, CA. Grows on medium to fine textured soils, likes full sun, low water requirements. Plant in fall ¼ inch deep or less. 4,500,000 seeds/lb.
