Perennial, 1 – 3 ft. tall. Long-lived, nitrogen-fixing legume. Adapted to all soil textures, likes full sun. Deep fibrous roots and will establish on poor soils. Very productive, palatable, nutritious forage producer for both livestock and wildlife. Differs from regular alfalfa by having yellow flowers but will readily hybridize with regular alfalfa. Drought and cold-tolerant, low to medium moisture requirements. Easily established and fire-tolerant. Originates from southwestern Asia and has become naturalized in many areas of the US. Valuable for pasture and rangeland plantings, wildlife habitat improvement, and soil disturbing activities revegetation. May compete and persist on drier sites better than regular alfalfa does. Plant fall or spring ¼ – ¾ inch deep. 215,000 seeds/lb.
