Medium, 3 – 15 ft. tall, deciduous, root-spreading, thicket-forming shrub found scattered throughout much of the US often growing on open, gravelly or rocky flats and hillsides. Provides good forage and shelter for some species of wildlife. Used for revegetation of disturbed sites, shelterbelt and native landscaping. Minimum precip. is 10 – 14 inches. Plant in fall ¼ – ½ inch deep. 49,000 seed lb.
