Perennial, 1 – 1½ ft. tall, deciduous, drought-tolerant shrub common throughout much of the Sonoran Desert. Has triangle shaped leaves and sharp bur-like seed. Grows on alluvials, mesas and rock slopes from 1,000 – 3,000 ft. elevation in the 4 – 22 inches precip. zones. Low palatability for livestock and wildlife. Plant in fall ½ – 1 inch deep. 9,000 seeds/lb.
