Short-lived, perennial, cool-season grass 2 – 3 ft. tall. Adapted to fine to medium textured moist soils of shallow marshes or sloughs. Saline, alkali and acidic soils tolerant. High moisture requirements. Very good forage for livestock and wildlife. Valuable for forage for wildlife and livestock and restoration of wetlands and riparian areas. Plant in fall ¼ – ½ inches deep. 1,240,000 seeds/lb.
Named Release: ‘Egan’ (Cultivar) was released in 1986 by the Alaska PMC.
