Perennial, 1 – 2 ft. tall. Blooms in the late spring/early summer with clumps of bluish-violet or purplish-lavender flowers. Common in most of the Great Basin area. Grows best on well-drained, dry, gravelly, medium to coarse textured soils. Cold and drought-tolerant, low water requirements, fire-resistant, slightly saline and acid tolerant. Grows from low to mid-elevations in adapted sites. Valuable for disturbed soil revegetation, wildlife habitat and beautification. Plant in fall 1/8 inch deep. 300,000 seeds/lb.
