Medium height, 1½ – 4 ft. tall, drought-tolerant, long-lived, cool-season, highly variable bunchgrass. Adapted to a wide variety of soils, but does best on well-drained, medium to coarse textured soils. Useful for disturbed land restoration, range, watershed, and wildlife habitat improvement. Minimum precip. is 7 – 10 inches. Plant fall or spring ¼ – ½ inch deep. 120,000 seeds/lb.
Named Release: ‘Whitmar’ (Cultivar) Released in 1946 by the ID/OR WA AES’s and Aberdeen/Corvallis/Pullman PMC’s. Selected for superior traits for rangeland revegetation on adapted sites.
