Medium height, 1 – 3 ft. tall, perennial, cool-season bunchgrass.  Adapted to loamy and sandy-gravelly soil textures.  Moderately drought-tolerant, palatable and tolerant to grazing.  Is similar in appearance and adaptation to Idaho Fescue.Valuable species for range and wildlife habitat improvement.  Also important for revegetation and stabilizing disturbed sites.  Minimum precip. is 12 – 14 inches.  Plant in fall ¼ – ½ inch deep.  550,000 seeds/lb.

Named Release:Redondo’ (Cultivar) Released by NMSU AES and NRCS in 1973. Germplasm originated west of Los Alamos, NM.
