Perennial, herbaceous, somewhat grass-like, rhizomatous, wetland plant, 1 – 3 ft. tall. Occurs in all western states, except Texas, on wet, alkaline lowlands, meadows, and swamps from low to mid elevations. Toxic to livestock. Useful in restoration of wetland habitats. Plant in fall or spring ΒΌ inches deep. 450,000 seeds/lb.
